The Prophet Daniel, Beloved By Jesus (who “never claimed to be God”)
Jesus referred to Himself in the Gospels as “son of man“ (Son of Man) 82 times and once more proclaimed by Stephen as he was being illegally put to death by enraged Jews in Acts 7:56.
And he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the Right Hand of God.”
In Biblical numerological patterns, eight is often symbolic of new beginnings, two is a witness and three is strength, completeness and inner-circle.
The common understanding of “son of man” is Jesus was constantly self-deprecating. One might even claim “he” (He) was making it clear “he” (He) was not God.
After his death, his followers decided that Jesus had been divine. This did not happen immediately; as we shall see, the doctrine that Jesus had been God in human form was not finalised [sic] until the fourth century. The development of Christian belief in the Incarnation was a gradual, complex process. Jesus himself certainly never claimed to be God. At his baptism he had been called the Son of God by a voice from heaven but this was probably simply a confirmation that he was the beloved Messiah. There was nothing particularly unusual about such a proclamation from above: the Rabbis often experienced what they called a bat qol (literally, ‘Daughter of the Voice’), a form of inspiration that had replaced the more direct prophetic revelations. Rabbi Yohannan ben Zakkai had heard such a bat qol confirming his own mission on the occasion when the Holy Spirit had descended upon him and his disciples in the form of fire. Jesus himself used to call himself ‘the Son of Man’. There has been much controversy about this title but it seems that the original Aramaic phrase (bar nasha) simply stressed the weakness and mortality of the human condition. If this is so, Jesus seems to have gone out of his way to emphasise [sic] that he was a frail human being who would one day suffer and die.1
That’s Karen Armstrong, “former Roman Catholic nun”, “Dame of the British Empire” and “Fellow” of the “Royal Society of Literature”. Armstrong is 79 and never married.
Unfortunately for her, none of her accolades or convent experiences showed her how to read a non-Catholic Bible.
All you need to do is pick up on the interplay between Jesus and devout or pious Jews.
Matthew 9:1-8
1 And entering into the boat, He passed over and came to His own city.2 2 And, behold! They were bringing a paralytic lying on a cot to Him. And seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, “Be comforted, child. Your sins have been forgiven you.”
3 And, behold, some of the scribes said within themselves, “This one blasphemes.”
4 And seeing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts?”3 5 “For what is easier, to say, ‘Your sins have been forgiven you’; or to say, ‘Rise up and walk?’”
6 “But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on Earth4 to forgive sins”, then He said to the paralytic, “Rising up, lift up your cot and go to your house.”
7 And rising up, he went away to his house.
8 And seeing, the crowds marveled, and they glorified God who gave such authority to men.
Jay P. Green’s Literal Translation 1993
There is much controversy in the field of apologetics regarding the existence of miracles. A “miracle” can be defined as Divine suspension and/or intervention of/in the natural order. Such intervention is extremely rare and what better reason for YHWH to directly intervene in His Own natural order than to validate the Identity of His Son?
If you miss this interplay, the very threats on His Life for “blasphemy” will accent the incident!
John 8:31-59
31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in My Word, you are truly My disciples,”
32 “and you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.”
33 They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?”
34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin.”
35 “The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever.”
36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
37 “I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet you seek to kill Me because My Word finds no place in you.”
38 “I speak of what I have seen with My Father, and you do what you have heard from your father.”
39 They answered him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would be doing the works Abraham did,”
40 “but now you seek to kill Me, a man who has told you the Truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did.”
41 “You are doing the works your father did.” They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father—even God.”
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I came from God and I Am here. I came not of My Own Accord, but He sent Me.”
43 “Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear My Word.”
44 “You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the Truth, because there is no Truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
45 “But because I tell the Truth, you do not believe Me.”
46 “Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the Truth, why do you not believe me?”
47 “Whoever is of God hears the Words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.”
48 The Jews answered him, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?”
49 Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.”
50 “Yet I do not seek My Own glory; there is One who seeks it, and He is the Judge.”
51 “Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My Word, he will never see death.”
52 The Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon! Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say, ‘If anyone keeps My Word, he will never taste death.’”
53 “Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! Who do You make Yourself out to be?”
54 Jesus answered, “If I glorify Myself, My Glory is nothing. It is My Father who glorifies Me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’”
55 “But you have not known Him. I know Him. If I were to say that I do not know Him, I would be a liar like you, but I do know Him and I keep His Word.”
56 “Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see My Day. He saw it and was glad.”
57 So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?”
58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I Am.”
59 So they picked up stones to throw at Him [to kill Him], but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the Temple.
English Standard Version5
What’s more, “son of man” (Son of Man) is actually an allusion to the beloved Prophet Daniel and his powerful vision of the four great beasts that complemented Nebuchadnezzar’s dream which he interpreted in Daniel 2. His vision in Chapter 7 culminated in beholding a Divine Messiah with a very special title.
Daniel 7:13-14
13 I was looking in the night visions. And behold! One like the Son of Man came with the clouds of the heavens. And He came to the Ancient of Days. And they brought Him near before Him.
14 And dominion was given to Him, and glory, and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion which shall not pass away, and His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
Jay P. Green’s Literal Translation 1993
Looks like Dame Karen the unmarried former nun (and all like her) are wrong on all counts.
But there is another incident that humiliates Dame Karen and the skeptics even more and Jesus again alluded to Daniel with it.
Jesus was run through multiple illegal trials and the Jewish authorities were desperate to convict Him and put Him to death but they had nothing.
That is, until He gave them exactly what they were looking for.
Mark 14:53-64
53 And they led Jesus away to the High Priest. And all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes came together to him.
54 And Peter followed Him from a distance, to the inside of the court of the High Priest. And he was sitting with the under-officers, also warming himself near the light.
55 And the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin sought testimony against Jesus, to put Him to death. And they found none.
56 For many falsely testified against Him, but the testimonies were not identical.
57 And standing up, some falsely testified against Him, saying,
58 We heard Him saying, “I will throw down this temple made with hands, and through three days I will build another not made with hands.”
59 And neither in this was their testimony identical.
60 And standing in the middle, the High Priest questioned Jesus, saying, “Do you not answer? Nothing? What do these testify against you?”
61 But He was silent and answered nothing. [Isaiah 53:7] Again the High Priest questioned Him, and said to Him, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?”
62 And Jesus said, “I AM! And you will see the Son of Man sitting off the Right Hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of the Heaven.” [Psa. 110:1; Dan. 7:13]
63 And tearing his garments, the High Priest said, “Why do we still have need of witnesses?”
64 “You heard the blasphemy. What does it seem to you?” And they all condemned Him to be liable, even of death.
Jay P. Green’s Literal Translation 19936
If Jesus of Nazareth never claimed to be God He would never have been put to death.
These were not the only times Jesus made coded allusions to Daniel (who was, in his day, pointing back towards Christ).
Matthew 18:21-22
21 Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?”
22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times!”
English Standard Version
Most would call this extravagance or exaggeration on behalf of Jesus, making the point that there is no end to forgiving a brother when the injure you and repent of it with you—which it is—but as with so many powerful passages it has a deeper, second meaning.
The allusion is to Daniel Chapter 9, more commonly known as “the Seventy Weeks of Daniel”—a prophecy so important it could be considered the most important of Messianic Promises.
Daniel 9:21-27
21 And while I was setting my prayer in order, then the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, touched me in my severe exhaustion about the time of the evening sacrifice.
22 And he enlightened me and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I have now come out to give you skill in understanding.
23 At the beginning of your prayers the word came forth, and I have come to explain it. For you are greatly beloved. Then understand the matter and pay attention to the vision:
24 Seventy weeks are decreed as to your people, and as to your Holy City, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make atonement for wickedness, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.
25 Know, then, and understand that from the going out of a word to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem, to Messiah the Prince, shall be seven weeks and sixty two weeks. The street shall be built again, and the wall, even in times of affliction.
26 And after sixty two weeks, Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself. And the people of a coming prince shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end shall be with the flood, and ruins are determined, and war shall be until the end.
27 And he [He] shall confirm a [the] covenant [Covenant] with the many for one week. And in the middle of the week he [He] shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. And on a wing of the altar will be abominations that desolate, even until the end. And that which was decreed shall pour out on the desolator.
Jay P. Green’s Literal Translation 1993
“Seventy times seven” is a specific reference to Daniel 9:24 in which Gabriel tells Daniel just when to expect Messiah to appear!
Daniel 9:24
24 Shivi’im heptads [“seventy sevens”] is decreed upon thy people and upon thy Ir Kodesh (Holy City), to restrain the peysha (transgression), and to make an end of chattat (sin), and to make kapporah for avon, and to bring in Tzedek Olamim (Everlasting Righteousness), and to seal up the chazon and navi, and to anoint the Kodesh HaKodashim.
Orthodox Jewish Bible
There have been several interpretations of Daniel’s “Seventy Weeks”. Perhaps the best known comes from a problematic source: Robert Anderson and his 1894 book The Coming Prince.
Sir Robert Anderson KCB [Knight Commander of the Royal Order of the Bath] (29 May 1841 – 15 November 1918) was the second Assistant Commissioner (Crime) of the London Metropolitan Police [also known as “Scotland Yard”], from 1888 to 1901.7
The Ripper
In his 1976 book Jack The Ripper: The Final Solution, journalist Stephen Knight implicated Robert Anderson as being involved in the Scotland Yard coverup of the Ripper murders.
But more directly associated were the Queen’s personal physician Sir William Gull and the then-Prime Minister of England, Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, 3rd Marquess of Salisbury (simply known as “Lord Salisbury”).
Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence and Avondale, known “lovingly” as “Prince Eddy” was a typical “Royal”: he had nothing to do but indulge his every urge and “learn the arts”. Even that requirement of his effort was forced upon him by his mother, “Alexandra of Denmark, Queen of the United Kingdom and Empress of India”.
“Prince Eddy’s” main past-time was “Turkish baths” and homosexual sex with young men but he found time to fall in love with a poor and illiterate Irish Catholic woman named Annie Elizabeth Crook. Crook resembled Albert Victor’s mother and he clung to her for stability, quickly siring an illegitimate daughter by her, Alice Margaret, on 18 April 1885. Albert Victor would go on to marry Crook in both Anglican and Catholic ceremonies.
Yet try as they might to keep it secret, they were unable to and the scandal threatened to destroy the “House of Windsor”.
The Bill of Rights 1689 and the Act of Settlement 1701 restrict succession to the throne to the legitimate Protestant descendants of Sophia of Hanover who are in “communion with the Church of England“.[1] Spouses of Catholics were disqualified from 1689 until the law was amended in 2015.8
Both the Roman Catholic Church and the British Royals turned to Freemasonry for a solution and it was a vicious one. Both Annie and Eddy were kidnapped by police disguised as “ruffians”. The Queen’s personal physician, our Freemason William Gull, lobotomized Annie and Albert Victor was kept in seclusion.
Unfortunately, Annie had a friend—Mary Jean (“Marie Jeanette”) Kelly—who had nursed little Alice Margaret. She was poor and would moonlight as a prostitute to supplement her living and she saw this as an opportunity to blackmail the artist who had put the two together, Walter Sickert, and, ultimately the “Royal family”.
Kelly was aided by several other poor women, all prostitutes. The Royal Freemasons, enabled by their “brothers” in Scotland Yard, to include Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Sir Charles Warren, tracked down the women. Each was drugged and then brutally murdered with each body grotesquely left with Freemasonic symbolism such as entrails tossed over the left shoulder.
Unfortunately for her, the fourth victim (Catherine Eddowes) wasn’t even a blackmailer. She had occasionally used the surname of a lover, John Kelly, and had been mistaken for Mary Kelly. Kelly was ultimately hunted down and her body was carved the most viciously of all.
In his 2013 book The Falsification of History: Our Distorted Reality, my friend John Hamer states that William Gull had an accomplice: Lord Randolph Henry Spencer-Churchill.
Prior to the 1888 murder-spree, Spencer-Churchill had been the Tory Leader of the House of Commons and then Chancellor of the Exchequer (Britain’s top financial official).
He was a Freemason and the father of future Prime Minister Winston Churchill; also a Freemason.
In another effort to the newest of never-ending slaughters, the “Global War on Terror”, Skull and Bones Bush President No. 43 (not to be confused with Skull and Bones Bush President No. 41, bracketing their CIA cocaine buddy William Jefferson [Rockefeller] Clinton), stated of Churchill:
He said, “History will be kind to me — for I intend to write it.” (Laughter.) History has been kind to Winston Churchill…
[Shriner Freemason] Franklin Roosevelt … once wrote to [Churchill], “It is fun to be in the same decade with you.” [Wounded, maimed, raped, mentally and emotionally ruined not included, combined death tolls of the second Roman Catholic Thirty Years War, “World Wars 1 & 2” just short of ONE BILLION human beings.] …He was a prisoner in the Boer War, a controversial strategist in the Great War. He was the rallying voice of the Second World War, and a prophet of the Cold War.
With the Jesuitical spin of “controversial strategist”, what Skull and Bones Bush 43 was actually saying is that “First Lord of the Admiralty” Churchill was personally responsible for the slaughter of 2,000 men, woman and children on board the RMS Lusitania. At the same time (1915), Churchill was also responsible for the deaths of a quarter of a million human beings for his “Gallipoli campaign”. It was a resounding slaughter for the British, French and Russian “Allies” against the Ottoman Turks and yet Churchill rose [was elevated] to Prime Minister for the bigger slaughter of “World War II”.
Churchill had, in fact, used his family influence to give himself an adventurous “taste of danger” and he survived with some stories to tell.
The two take-aways from that are:
1. Even people with adventuresome stories in their resumes can still be compromised, cowardly killers.
2. It’s fun when you have to use your blue blood to experience danger, have tea served to you and come right back home. That’s not how it works for the common men who die or get maimed just so that those same Elite can get even more wealthy.
Plausible Deniability
Knight did state that, if Robert Anderson had participated in the brutal “Ripper” assassinations, it was in the cover-up and he took no active part in the grisly murders. Given Anderson’s position as a deputy chief law enforcement officer, this is no mark of integrity.
As for poor Stephen Knight, John Hamer states:
In the late 1970s, a researcher and author, Stephen Knight, managed to obtain limited access to the ‘Ripper’ files but discovered that there were many gaps in the records. Despite this, he still managed to unearth new leads and information based upon which he wrote a book ‘Jack the Ripper – the final solution’. Unfortunately before publication, many of the more incriminating parts were ‘stolen’ and in those days, before personal computers were commonplace, he had no back-ups or copies as protection. After the book was eventually published, minus the more incriminating information, he published another book. ‘The Brotherhood’ which exposed the gross corruption and illegality prevalent in the freemasonic movement and shortly afterwards he was dead – allegedly poisoned, but of course no arrests were ever made.9
Knight was 33.
The Coming Prince
Do the allegations against Robert Anderson mean his deciphering the Seventy Weeks prophecy in Daniel 9 can not be trusted? We must approach it with the proper skepticism because Anderson’s computations make a very strong case.
The critical point of the prophecy is “when to start the clock” but there is an even more important point missing by men like William Miller, Master Mason founder of Seventh Day Adventism: “What kind of clock do we use?”
When Miller repeatedly prophesied the return of Jesus Christ based upon Daniel 8:14—in direct contravention of Christ’s warning Matthew 24:36—he used the purposefully convoluted calendar of Jesuit Christopher Clavius. As a quick aside, the phrase “nor the Son” placed at the end of “no man knows the day or the hour” is not found in reliable manuscripts and Desiderius Erasmus did not include it in his Textus Receptus (the foundation of the 1611 Authorized Version).
“Know therefore and discern that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah, the Prince, shall be seven weeks and threescore and two weeks: it shall be built again with street and moat, even in troublous times.”[17]
Now it is an undisputed fact that Jerusalem was rebuilt by Nehemiah, under an edict issued by Arta-xerxes (Longimanus), in the twentieth year of his reign. Therefore, notwithstanding the doubts which controversy throws upon everything, the conclusion is obvious and irresistible that this was the epoch of the prophetic period. But the month date was Nisan, and the sacred year of the Jews began with the phases of the Paschal moon. I appealed, therefore, to the Astronomer Royal, the late Sir George Airy, to calculate for me the moon’s place for March in the year in question, and I thus ascertained the date required — March 14th, B.C. 445.
This being settled, one question only remained: Of what kind of year does the era consist? And the answer to this is definite and clear. That it is the ancient year of 360 days is plainly proved in two ways. First, because, according to Daniel and the Apocalypse, 3 ½ prophetic years are equal to 1, 260 days; and, secondly, because it can be proved that the 70 years of the “Desolations” were of this character; and the connection between the period of the “Desolations” and the era of the “weeks” is one of the few universally admitted facts in this controversy. The “Desolations” began on the 10th Tebeth, B.C. 589 (a day which for four-and-twenty centuries has been commemorated by the Jews as a fast), and ended on the 24th Chisleu, B.C. 520.
Having thus settled the terminus a quo of the “weeks,” and the form of year of which they are composed, nothing remains but to calculate the duration of the era. Its terminus ad quem can thus with certainty be ascertained. Now 483 years (69 x 7) of 360 days contain 173, 880 days. And a period of 173, 880 days, beginning March 14th, B.C. 445, ended upon that Sunday in the week of the crucifixion [6 April 32 A.D.], when, for the first and only time in His ministry, the Lord Jesus Christ, in fulfillment of Zechariah’s prophecy, made a public entry into Jerusalem, and caused His Messiahship to be openly proclaimed by “the whole multitude of the disciples.” (Luke 19)10
It should be noted that not even the best translations available, which are mostly Erasmus Textus Receptus derived such as the 1611 Authorized Version, do not handle the pronouns in verse 27 with proper understanding.
Daniel 9:25-27
25 Know, then, and understand that from the going out of a word to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem, to Messiah the Prince, shall be seven weeks and sixty two weeks. The street shall be built again, and the wall, even in times of affliction.
26 And after sixty two weeks, Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself. And the people of a coming prince shall destroy the city [“City”: there’s only one Jerusalem] and the sanctuary [“Sanctuary”: there were two Temples but each was unique in its day serving a single, unique purpose just as the Tabernacle of Moses and Aaron did]. And its end shall be with the flood, and ruins are determined, and war shall be until the end.
27 And he [He: the Messiah!] shall confirm a covenant [THE Covenant!] with the many for one week. And in the middle of the week he [He] shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. [Messiah will stop the sacrifice by fulfilling it with His Own!] And on a wing of the altar will be abominations that desolate, even until the end. [Here’s the tricky part: Messiah fulfilled the Sacrifice and cursed the Temple but the Antichrist Romans ended the Sacrifice in 70 A.D.] And that which was decreed shall pour out on the desolator. [Even though Rome carried out Messiah’s Curse, she did it of her own accord, not for Him. She shall drink twice the cup from which she forced upon others—Revelation 18:6.] Jay P. Green’s Literal Translation 1993
When Christ Openly Referenced Daniel, It Was STILL Coded!
Matthew 24:1-25
1 And going out, Jesus left the Temple. And His disciples came to show Him the buildings of the Temple.
2 But Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, ‘There will not at all be left one stone on a stone which in no way will not be thrown down.’”
3 And as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be?” And, “What is the Sign of Your return and of the end of the age?”
4 And answering, Jesus said to them, “See that not any leads you astray.”
5 “For many will come in My Name, saying, I am the Christ. And they will cause many to be led astray.”
6 “But you are going to hear of wars and rumors of wars. See, do not be terrified. For all things must take place, but the end is not yet.”
7 “For nation will be raised against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines and plagues and earthquakes against many places.”
8 “But all these are a beginning of throes.”
9 “Then they will deliver you up to affliction, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My Name’s Sake.”
10 “And then many will be offended, and they will deliver up one another and will hate one another.”
11 “And many false prophets will be raised and will cause many to err.”
12 “And because lawlessness shall have been multiplied, the love of the many will grow cold.”
13 “But the one who endures to the end, that one will be kept safe.”
14 “And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the Earth for a testimony to all the nations, and then will come the end.”
15 “Then when you see the Abomination of Desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the Holy Place (the one reading, let him understand),” [Dan. 11:31; 12:11—references by Green which should include 9:27]
16 “then let those in Judea flee on the mountains;”
17 “the one on the housetop, let him not come down to take anything out of his house;”
18 “and the one in the field, let him not turn back to take his garment.”
19 “But woe to the woman having a child in womb, and to those suckling in those days!”
20 “And pray that your flight will not be in winter nor on a Sabbath.”
21 “For there will be great affliction, such as has not happened from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever will be.”
22 “And except those days were shortened, not any flesh would be saved. But on account of the Elect, those days will be shortened.”
23 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, here is the Christ!’ Or, ‘Here!’ Do not believe.”
24 “For false christs and false prophets will rise up. And they will give great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the Elect.”
25 “Behold, I tell you beforehand.”
Jay P. Green’s Literal Translation 199311
There have been many guesses as to what Jesus is referencing but those who believed in Jesus as the Christ were given a clear sign during the Zealot rebellion of 68 A.D.
In 66 A.D. the Roman Procurator Gessius Florus was annoyed at the paucity of tax returns. He made up what he felt was the difference with wealth he forcibly stole from the Temple treasury.
This incited the Zealots to revolt and forced Gessius Florus to flee.
It is a fascinating twist that the Zealots were areligious and had nothing but disdain for the Temple and the Priesthood.
The nation was split amongst several factions so the Zealots recruited Idumeans (Edomites, the children of Esau) to bolster their numbers.
According to the Jewish historian Josephus (who defected to the Romans when they arrived two years later) there was a great slaughter, even within the Temple, defiling it, starting with leading citizen Zacharias ben Baruch.
It is at this point that a direct quote by Josephus is again in order:
“These men trampled upon all the laws of men and laughed at the laws of God. And as for the oracles of the prophets, they ridiculed them as the tricks of a juggler.”
“There was a certain ancient oracle of those men, that the city should then be taken and the sanctuary burnt, by right of war, when a sedition should invade the Jews, and their own hand should pollute the temple of God.”
[My Personal Note]: I find this last quote interesting. What prophecy was Josephus talking about? I do know, though, as we read in the Olivet Discourse in Mark 13, Matthew 24, and Luke 21, that Jesus did prophesy that the temple would be destroyed in language rather similar to this.12
Next, Legate of Syria, Cestius Gallus, brought the XII Legion to besiege Jerusalem. Surprisingly, he underestimated the defenders and lost as many as 6,000 soldiers in his failure.
This encouraged the Jews to fortify their positions as Emperor Nero dispatched Vespasian to Palestine.
Vespasian brutally and methodically crushed his way towards Jerusalem but he, too, was interrupted by the death of Nero on 9 June 68 A.D. Rome was embroiled in a leadership struggle that saw four men ascend the throne: Galba (who was assassinated), Otho (committed suicide), Vitellius (murdered by Vespasian supporters) and then Vespasian, himself, who ruled from 69 to 79 A.D.
All of this turmoil, much of it focused on the Temple, provided followers of Christ multiple opportunities to heed His Warnings and flee the city before it’s fiery end in 70 A.D.
Beyond Chapter 9, verse 27, there are two more references in Daniel to Temple desolation.
Daniel 9:27 seems clearly to be concerning the Temple’s destruction in 70 A.D. by the “people of the prince to come”. Just ask any Pope if his lineage includes the military Roman Empire and he’ll just smile.
The reference in Daniel Chapter 12 seems as if it could be related to the crimes of Seleucid ruler (Seleucus I, one of Alexander’s four succeeding generals) Antiochus IV Epiphanes, his suppression of Judaism, profaning the Temple and successful revolt by Levite Priest Mattathias and his son Judas Maccabeus.
11 And from the time the regular sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that desolates set up, a thousand, two hundred and ninety days shall occur.
The dates between Antiochus’ sacrifice to Zeus in the Temple and the cleansing of the Temple by Maccabeus is attested by outside sources to be close enough for a precise fulfillment (depending upon who sets what date and does which counting).
Daniel Chapter 11 involves the kings of the North and South. It is the king of the North who also defiles the Temple.
Daniel 11:31-32
31 And forces will stand away from him, and they will profane the Sanctuary, the fortress. And they shall remove the regular Sacrifice, and they will place the abomination that desolates.
32 And he will defile by flatteries those who do evil against the Covenant. But the people who know their God will be strong and will work.
Jay P. Green’s Literal Translation 199313
The key to the identity of the King of the North can be found in phrases like “defile by flatteries” and how the King of the North contrives war with the King of the South by the two sitting at the same table. [Daniel 11:27]
The purpose of the Tabernacle and first two Temples was to provide a conduit from YHWH to the people through the Levitical Priesthood but it was not a direct conduit and one that required strict regulations of cleansing and hierarchy.
Paul repeatedly explained in several passages that the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ turns each Believer into their own Temple, capable of direct interaction with YHWH by His Blood! [I Corinthians 3:9, 3:16-17, 6:19, II Corinthians 6:16, Ephesians 2:21]
The King of the North is the Papal Antichrist, the same Antichrist predicted by Jesus who would speak in His Name, as all Popes blasphemously claim when they pronounce “Ex cathedra”, “from the Chair”.
II Thessalonians 2:1-4
1 And, brothers, we entreat you, by the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, and of our gathering together to Him,
2 for you not to be quickly shaken in the mind, nor to be disturbed, neither through a spirit, nor through speech, nor through letter, as through us, as if the Day of Christ has come.
3 Do not let anyone deceive you in any way, because that Day will not come unless first comes the falling away, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,
4 the one opposing and exalting himself over everything being called God, or object of worship, so as for him “to sit in the temple of God” as God, proclaiming that he himself is God. [Dan. 11:36; Eze. 28:2] Jay P. Green’s Literal Translation 1993
There was no “chair” in the Holy of Holies. It was blasphemy for the High Priest to sit in the Sanctuary.
But all Popes are conveyed with great pomp in their “Throne of Saint Peter”.
Some of them, like Eugenio “Pius XII” Pacelli, reveled in it repeatedly.
There can never be a physical Abomination of Desolation because Messiah cursed the City and Sanctuary—
Matthew 23:37-24:2
37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!”
38 “See, your house is left to you desolate.”
39 “For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”Chapter 24
1 Jesus left the Temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the Temple.
2 But He answered them, “You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”
English Standard Version14
—never to be rebuilt—
Galatians 2:18
18. If I rebuild what I have already torn down, I prove myself to be a lawbreaker.
Berean Standard Bible
The Abomination of Desolation is the destruction of Christ’s Sacrifice by deception. The Papal Son of Perdition—a title of betrayal the Papacy shares with Judas Iscariot (John 17:12, Authorized Version)—claims it is the “Vicar of Christ on Earth”.15
There are many soul-traps laid out by the Catholic Church, not the least of which is “Mary, Mother of God, Co-Mediatrix and Co-Redemptrix, the Queen of Heaven”. Interestingly, the Apostle Paul had already defeated the majority of these traps that were also shared by the Jews of his day in the letter to the Hebrews16: worship of angels, prayers to the dead, wrongfully equating Jesus as equal to a Priest when He is the High Priest, King of kings and Lord of lords. [Revelation 22:13] That is why the Roman Catholic Church suppressed the Bible for a thousand years and tortured anyone “unauthorized” to have one, found with one.
Daniel Demoted
There are only two men in Scripture to be given the special title of “beloved” by God. One is John the Apostle. The other is the Prophet Daniel. John and Daniel are the premier sources for both the identity of Jesus of Nazareth as Christ and Papal Rome as Antichrist.
As a result, modern “Judaism” refuses to acknowledge Daniel amongst the Prophets and it is he who will condemn them before the King of kings.

- By “his own city” is meant Capernaum Mark 2:1, the city which was at that time his home, or where he had his dwelling. See the notes at Matthew 4:13. This same account, with some additional circumstances, is contained in Mark 2:3-12, and Luke 5:18-26. ~ Albert Barnes’ Notes on the Bible
- Note that Jesus takes what appears to be righteous Jewish piety as, in fact, evil.

- I don’t call it Vati-pedia for nothing. The Wikipedia entry on “Vicarius Filii Dei” would have you believe that title is just a big Protestant slander. That is absolutely not the case.
- Although the Book of Hebrews is anonymous, I am comfortable siding with the majority of scholars that Paul is the author.
