I had more in mind the idea of the Nimrod clone, or some other evil man. Perhaps they will both be clones, one of Christ Jesus (inhabited by the false prophet), and one of Nimrod (as the Beast). Both will be empowered by the Serpent/Dragon/Satan.

I do think there will be a literal temple somewhere because of John measuring the temple in Revelation and saying that the Gentiles will trample the outer court for 42 months (the same time given for the two witnesses to testify and for the little horn to trample the saints/holy people/believers). That temple could literally be anywhere, but Jesus did give a warning to those who were in Judea (as you mentioned), which makes me lean toward the NWO/Antichrist resurrecting a temple for all people (Jews, Catholics, and Muslims especially, but also for all ‘faiths’) in Jerusalem. God had inhabited the temple in Jerusalem, and it is where the holy place was, so Satan desires to desecrate all that God had determined to be holy. Rome has control of the holy sites…

I am not saying, even slightly, that anything going on in secular or religious Jerusalem/Israel is worshipful of God Almighty (except that there are surely some true believers there), as the Nation does not acknowledge Jesus as God’s Son and as their Messiah; I am saying that the ‘seat’ of the counterfeit will logically be there (in the beautiful land,) although it is already tentacled in Rome and all over the face of the earth).

I do see Rome as the mother of all harlots-she sits a queen and is no widow (as did Babylon in Isaiah–and as did Semiramis); but all false churches will eventually come home to her in the end. Very few will stand, separate, and be counted during the final purge of all that is good and holy upon this earth. I believe that the destruction of the whore depicted in Revelation will encompass the entirety of the face of the earth, as the whore sits on many waters (all the earth) and on 7 mountains (continents) and includes all tribes and tongues and nations. That destruction (the final destruction), I believe, comes at the last day, when the Son of Man returns in clouds with great glory. I could be wrong on the timing, or on all of it…but I think the whore has many more adherents than just Rome, and coming out from among her (so as to not partake of her plagues) should be the clarion call of the day. As you said, and as I have said to so many (pastors/teachers included) the flock needs to be warned by all true shepherds. This is not happening because the shepherds are hirelings and do not love the flock. That is why the flock foolishly allows itself to be fleeced weekly by the shepherd. In this way, the sheep has no covering for protection/warmth and cannot even sell its own wool to care for itself. They are milked for all they have instead of being provided the pure milk of the Word. The very saddest part is that no matter how I try to convince them of what they are doing to themselves, they will not leave the evil shepherds and just follow Jesus directly on their own. Humans love their human idols. I guess they are all as Israel, desiring the evil of having a king to rule over them when they already had the King of Kings.
