If you’re out on the water at night with your exhausts muffled, a 3000 ton ship moving toward you at 30+ mph is going to be as loud as a freight train. The only witnesses were Kennedy’s crew, and a Japanese destroyer captain called to testify after the war. More than likely paid to fabricate a story.
